I didn’t expect to feel as sad as I did when I heard the news that this family would soon be moving. I get close to my clients, but to be honest, I have photographed this family (in particular, the girls) so many times that, in my mind, it was a lifetime honor. I would be there, in some way or another, to photograph the girls as young ladies. I mean, I can see them growing just as fast as my girls are and, in my mind, I can honestly picture them 10 years from now. I really can. It’ll be here before I know it.
Yes, it’s cliché, but time goes by so quickly. The first time I met Baby Sophia’s older sister, she was 3 months old. That still boggles my mind. That is the part of my job that I love. When I meet a newborn, I’m there for the moment and I don’t think beyond that day. Until it becomes a second session and maybe a third…and the next you know…it’s just crazy. Crazy and yet, such an honor for me. It really is. So, even if they go, I will have to make it a point to photograph them someday in the future. For old times sake and to have the inner joy of being able to say to them “I’ve known you since you were in diapers and what a wonderful young woman you are.”

And big sister, too.
