I love shooting engagements.  It’s like the night BEFORE Christmas.  I mean, Christmas is awesome, but the night before…the anticipation…I love it.  And so it is with engagements.  I love shooting them because it’s just one day closer to the day of the wedding.  I start having visions of how the bride will look and what the groom will do.  These two are having a reception at the Plaza and so it was fitting to shoot their engagement pictures there.  Like most couples, it seemed a bit strange to them being the subject of so much attention, but I think they did awesome.  Can’t wait until May!

A sneak peek for the girl responsible for getting my hair on the path back to good.  I photographed her older sister as a newborn and now she’s a very proud big sister.  The only time I get a little studio-esque is for a newborn session.  I’m still working on perfecting the traveling home studio, but I try to make it work.  I know my client’s love the fact that they don’t have to travel with their baby and it helps to be in the comfort of your own home. Anyway, I wish I had more time for words but I’m getting ready to head out for another engagement session.  Congratulations on the addition to your family, guys.  She arrived early, but healthy and beautiful.  God’s blessings!

I wake up with a 5 month old next to me.  Sometimes she’s awake.  Sometimes she’s asleep.  Regardless, she’s always amazing to look at and better than coffee to smell.  I’m usually lying super close to her.  There are times I think it annoys her, but I could really care less.  I know how fast she’ll grow.  I’m taking it all in this time.

So I snuggle close and I’ll open one eye to see what I see and then I’ll close it and open the other.  I love the different perspectives just doing that gives you in the morning.

I decided to pick up my camera and shoot what I saw on a regular Tuesday morning.  Not a bad view.

Meet the newest addition to the family.

She’s my sister’s beautiful bundle of joy.  Isn’t she lovely…and teeny?!  I can’t get over it.  She’s a month old here and she’s still so little.  Apparently, I’m the only one in my family to have babies that look like toddlers.  Fun for me, right?   The shots below are an ode to eighties chic. I love it.  So cute.

I didn’t get to shoot as much as I usually do and we definitely didn’t get any naked baby shots.  She HATES to be naked.  I tried, but I found out pretty quickly that it wasn’t going to happen.  Then, there was my child who had been waiting patiently during the shoot, but after a while, the swing just wasn’t working for her.  Check out those lips?!  I’m in some serious trouble.  That pout gets me every time.
