I’ve been a bad, bad blogger lately. I can’t help it. September and October are insanely popular for weddings and in October and November I experience my BUSIEST season for portraits. Weddings in September and October are generally booked an entire year in advance. And my portrait clients know that my calendar starts getting filled for Christmas pictures in August and September. So, once September hits, I am on a train that leaves the station quick and doesn’t stop until the end of the year. It’s quite a task. In fact, most wedding photographers I know prefer not do shoot too many portraits and many portrait photographers I know don’t like to load up on too many weddings. Somehow, this year, I did both and did them in full-force. It’s not easy. I average 4-5 hours sleep (party because I’m still Mom whose shares a workspace with a three year old girl who very rarely leaves her side during the day) and drink a lot of coffee to get it all done this time of year. But it’s worth it. I can’t say no to portraits and I can’t say no to weddings. I just can’t. When the calendar is full, I hate telling people I’m unavailable, but there are limits. Unless I become a vampire and no longer need those last 4 hours of sleep. Now THAT would be cool.
Next year, I will add more minis to my calendar. I’m also changing my pricing structure just a teeny bit. I will have separate rates for weekends and weekday sessions. I’m exploring indoor venues to use for child portrait sessions and I won’t settle for anything short of fantastic (wish me luck!). And I’m adding options for my newborn photography (which I want to take to another level). Not to mention, I have a ton of personal projects that need to happen. So, I am excited about next year.
I will try to blog more this year…but if not, January will definitely be the month of the BLOG (and facebook, too, for that matter).
For today, I leave you with some images that I love from a brother and sister duo that are too cute for words… seriously. I never even really have to “pose” them because the playful sibling energy is so there with these, too. I couldn’t get enough! So happy I was able to photograph them this year. Counting my blessings, for sure!
Oh and a note about the shoot….
This is an example of a regular session, which is a full hour and we had fun with changes in accessories and clothes. AND for those looking for a good “location”, THIS is an example of a middle of the road shoot. Other than an image in the backyard, these are all taken on the side of an Upper Valley road.

PS
I am loving my new branding… and yes…. yes, my new wesite will match. And yes, I realize it’s a year later and still not up. I go back to that vampire thing. Man, that vampire thing would come in handy for a do-it-ALL-yourself/ball juggling mom like me.
