I’m back from New York with so much catching up to do. I entitled this post ‘beloved’ because I am currently listening to Jesh De Rox speak about his Beloved Collective; a photographic movement which is so inspiring. It is so easy to get lost when you’re trying to find your way doing what you love. It is such a balance between what started out as your quest to be creative and what becomes a need to do business. Hours and hours of sitting at a desk are not why one becomes a photographer, and yet, it becomes exactly that. As someone said once, photography would be so much easier if it was just about photography. Which is probably true of most things. So, we do the hard stuff, just to get the opportunity in between to do what we love in between…and I love to photograph people. It makes me truly happy.

In remembering where I started, it makes me happy to know that my name is listed on Jesh’s blog. In 2007, I was voted 3rd in one of his Explore competitions. That small competition was huge for me because it was voted on by my peers. Let’s face it… Mom and all your friends on Facebook can say you’ve done something good, but let’s get real, all those poor chaps on ‘American Idol’ were all told by someone they were good and somehow they end up being humiliated on television at the beginning of the season. It’s something different entirely when your amazing peers give you a thumbs up. It tells you that, quite possibly, maybe, you have actually done something good. Although I rarely believe it. Ha. Still, cheers to the good stuff, everyone!
