Clarrisa + David {married}

January is the time of year that I am able to go back to everything which has been derailed by the oh-so-crazy holiday rush that happens to me between October and December. Which means this month I get to do a ton of blogging. Which makes me happy, until I have to choose my favorites to blog and then I am sitting at my desk for hours trying to figure out how not to make it a blog post with 100 images in it. Which was especially tough when it came to blogging this wedding. I mean, seriously, not only are they too cute for words, they just knew how to let go and have fun on their big day and I think it shows in the images.  I loved shooting their wedding and getting to know them better.  I will never forget it.

OH… and before I forget…. a few more of their wedding images can be found on my new FACEBOOK PAGE. This page will now be updated with sneak peeks and other business information, so click “LIKE” on the page to see those images and specials on your facebook news feed. I promise to make it worth your while.

Casey and Jerry {engaged}

Here’s to the first blog post of the new year! I hope everyone had a blessed holiday and a merry Christmas!

So much went on in the month of Decemeber.  It made my head spin.  But now that I am through it and on the other side of it, I’m so excited about what’s to come this year.  So much news to announce and so much more I’m about to shoot and discover on this crazy journey.
I can’t wait to see what happens.

Today I leave you with some images my last engagement session of 2011.
It was a great way to end the year:)

looking ahead

I’ve been a bad, bad blogger lately. I can’t help it. September and October are insanely popular for weddings and in October and November I experience my BUSIEST season for portraits. Weddings in September and October are generally booked an entire year in advance. And my portrait clients know that my calendar starts getting filled for Christmas pictures in August and September. So, once September hits, I am on a train that leaves the station quick and doesn’t stop until the end of the year. It’s quite a task. In fact, most wedding photographers I know prefer not do shoot too many portraits and many portrait photographers I know don’t like to load up on too many weddings. Somehow, this year, I did both and did them in full-force. It’s not easy. I average 4-5 hours sleep (party because I’m still Mom whose shares a workspace with a three year old girl who very rarely leaves her side during the day) and drink a lot of coffee to get it all done this time of year. But it’s worth it. I can’t say no to portraits and I can’t say no to weddings. I just can’t. When the calendar is full, I hate telling people I’m unavailable, but there are limits. Unless I become a vampire and no longer need those last 4 hours of sleep. Now THAT would be cool.

Next year, I will add more minis to my calendar. I’m also changing my pricing structure just a teeny bit. I will have separate rates for weekends and weekday sessions. I’m exploring indoor venues to use for child portrait sessions and I won’t settle for anything short of fantastic (wish me luck!).  And I’m adding options for my newborn photography (which I want to take to another level). Not to mention, I have a ton of personal projects that need to happen. So, I am excited about next year.

I will try to blog more this year…but if not, January will definitely be the month of the BLOG (and facebook, too, for that matter).

For today, I leave you with some images that I love from a brother and sister duo that are too cute for words… seriously. I never even really have to “pose” them because the playful sibling energy is so there with these, too.  I couldn’t get enough! So happy I was able to photograph them this year. Counting my blessings, for sure!

Oh and a note about the shoot….

This is an example of a regular session, which is a full hour and we had fun with changes in accessories and clothes.  AND for those looking for a good “location”, THIS is an example of a middle of the road shoot.  Other than an image in the backyard, these are all taken on the side of an Upper Valley road.

PS

I  am loving my new branding… and yes…. yes, my new wesite will match. And yes, I realize it’s a year later and still not up. I go back to that vampire thing. Man, that vampire thing would come in handy for a do-it-ALL-yourself/ball juggling mom like me.

Jan the Man - sigh......you are amazing.

Rebecca - Aww yay so excited for your newborn info! Our baby boy is coming in February! :)

One Love {mini-session}

There are so many great images that come out of these 20 minute mini-sessions.  I can’t wait to post a few sessions to showcase  just how many great images you can get in just 20 minutes time.

Until then, here’s one frame that I love.

Laura - The facebook picture does not do this one justice! Your eye for amazing pictures does not cease to amaze me!

Clare - Cristina! You are so awesome! I love this shot! What a cute baby! P.s. Love the shoes

Claudia Flo' - This is just precious.

Elizabeth - love it! so precious!

Happy Again {newborn}

So… I was doing a little adding in my head to discover that in the past few months I’ve been shooting at least 27,000 images per month. Which does NOT including anything I shoot for myself or for my family.

Wow.

To be honest, I have no idea if that’s low, high or average for most photographers. I just know that when I break it down that way, I feel a little nauseous.

And then I look at these images… and I feel
oh
so
very,
very
happy
again.

Mom wanted a different type of ring shot… and I rather like it.

Diana - she looks so peaceful, love them all! Beautiful baby!

Mae - ....sigh....she is gorgeous..... Melt.

Cassandra - Angel in a blanket....just lovely.

Manju - You did an amazing job! Love all these pictures
